Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a firefighter?
Well, now's your chance!
Come learn how your Cedar Hill Fire Department prepares for life-threatening emergencies and learn about all the many services our trained emergency professionals provide to the citizens of Cedar Hill.

Why a Citizens Fire Academy?
This program is designed for people who have a genuine desire to learn about the daily life of firefighters, who want to increase fire and life safety awareness, and who wish to increase the awareness of the services provided by the Cedar Hill Fire Department.
3.
Who can attend?
Anyone who is at least 18 years old, who lives or works in Cedar Hill, and has never been arrested or charged with any crime. Selection of students will be made by application

Do I get to ride in a fire truck?
Yes, during the 3rd week of class you will be able to sign up to ride-out with on-duty personnel to emergency and non-emergency calls. If you pick a good time slot you will even get a chance to sample some cooking, Firefighter style. Remember that all students, while on calls, will be observing ONLY.
5.
How much does the course cost?
There is no charge to participants. All materials, along with CFA T-shirt, are provided.
6.
When do classes meet?
Classes meet one evening per week for 10 weeks. Each class is three hours in length. (6:30 pm till 9:30 pm)
7.
Do you just sit in class for 10 weeks?
NO, there will be some materials that will be discussed in the classroom; however there will be plenty of demonstrations and hands-on activities in which you will be encouraged to participate outside the classroom.
8.
Who are the instructors?
A variety of instructors are used from the Firefighters on shift all the way up to the Fire Chief.
9.
What happens upon completion?
Graduates are encouraged to join the Alumni Association, and participate in meetings that inform you of upcoming events. Members will work with the CHFD on local civic events and assist with various programs.
